Responsible for all aspects of product and process engineering in a state of the art electronics manufacturing facility. Perform DFM and new product introduction for PCBAs and electronic system assemblies. Develop PFMEA and quality plans for product assembly. Define manufacturing processes and assembly cells to ensure cost, quality, and delivery goals. Participate in CI initiatives and programs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Facilitate the introduction of newly acquired customer programs. Perform DFM analysis and recommend design changes to improve manufacturability, and quality, and reduce product cost. Perform PFMEA, and develop control plans to ensure high product quality. Develop manufacturing processes, and work instructions to be used in the manufacture of the product. Train operations on product performance and manufacturing processes.
- Work directly with outside vendors to develop tooling and tooling strategies for current and new-products. Work to industry best-practices to evaluate tooling for A/R ratios, layouts, clearances and operator ergonomics.
- Attend daily stand-up meetings to discuss ongoing manufacturing challenges, taking actions to follow-up with process changes, making changes to existing routes and process documentation as required.
- Work directly with cross-functional team to support quality challenges and process improvements as required.
- Work directly with assigned customer-contacts to clearly communicate engineering challenges and design-related manufacturing concerns. Communicate these challenges and concerns with manager and Program-Management Team.
- Participate in total quality and continuous improvement (CI) activities. Analyze process and test yield data to identify opportunities for improvement. Modify fixtures, tooling and processes in order to improve yield. Participate in plant Kaizen events. Perform 5 why / 8D root cause corrective actions as required.
- Design work cells for system level assemblies that support the takt time of the program. Utilize Lean manufacturing philosophies and tools to continually improve the performance of the work cell. Perform labor studies and work cell capacity analysis for the attainment of required production volumes.
- Perform mechanical operations and demonstrate proficiency in the use of hand-tools, torque-drivers, drills, files, and small hand-held power tools.
- Evaluate and recommend new processing techniques and equipment. Assist in the review and comparison of new process equipment acquisition. Review quality and product data to ensure conformance to specifications
