Summary

The Buyer is responsible for the procurement of assigned production and/or non-production (MRO) materials, with an emphasis on electronic components. Support administrative requirements for Electronic Commerce/Procurement, i.e. Kan Ban, MRP share and auto release program for the Materials Department.  Candidates must be local to the Melbourne, FL area.  The role is 100% onsite.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage moderate level commodities.
  • Plan material purchases based on MRP requirements or internal requisition for MRO items.
  • Ensure materials are on time to meet production and requisition start dates.
  • Send out Purchase Orders (POs).
  • Manage issues on supplier management.
  • Manage material discrepancies (quality, quantity and price). Work closely with Program Managers regarding quality issues.
  • Negotiate cost and lead time reductions for assigned commodities.
  • Work closely/timely to resolve discrepant material (MRB) and return material authorization (RMAs).
  • Maintain tracking reports and metric charts to provide status, measure performance, and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Interface with Engineers and Supplier Quality including, but not limited to, MRB resolution.
  • Other responsibilities as directed and necessary for the business.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field and 2 + years of related experience in purchasing including APICS’ CPIM or other relative purchasing certification a plus.
  • Prefer candidates with prior experience purchasing electronics for SMT, Box Build, EMS and Contract Manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of MRP/ERP systems; INFOR Syteline preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good problem solving skills.
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.
  • Self-motived, ability to work independently and quickly with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to operate in a multi-tasking, highly dynamic work environment.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours as necessary.
