Company will match grant to expand employee training in operational excellence

WESTFORD, MA, April 10, 2014:  Mack Technologies, a leading electronic manufacturing services provider, announced today that it has been awarded $146,425 under the Massachusetts Workforce Training Fund Program.  This grant, along with Mack’s matching funding, will provide training that strengthens the skills of 148 employees in Massachusetts.

This project is funded by a Workforce Training Fund grant through the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development.  The grant program is administered by the Commonwealth Corporation. The latest round of Workforce Training Fund grants builds on the Patrick Administration’s record investments in workforce training and education.  Since 2007, the Administration has awarded $84.3 million through this grant program to 1,101 projects involving more than 1,191 businesses and 103,584 workers.

“The Workforce Training Fund is one of our most effective initiatives for supporting businesses in meeting the demands of a highly competitive regional and global economy by enhancing the skills of their employees,” said Labor and Workforce Development Secretary Rachel Kaprielian.  “Over the last several years, we have seen many companies succeed thanks to these training grants and we look forward to more companies growing and excelling through the use of our training initiatives.”

“Mack would like to thank Governor Patrick’s administration and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for affording us this opportunity to further train, develop, and grow our workforce,” said Will Kendall, President of Mack Technologies.  “Mack is always focused on operational excellence and the training grant allows us to train employees in a variety of operational disciplines, business processes, and technologies that contribute to the continuous improvement of our company.”

Mack will use the funding for employee training in multiple programs, including:

  • Six Sigma Introduction and Six Sigma Green Belt Certification
  • Advanced in-circuit test (ICT) techniques
  • Advanced boundary scan testing skills
  • English as a Second Language (ESL)
  • “Train the Trainer” — How to train effectively
  • Corrective Action and Root Cause Analysis

“We are particularly excited about our Six Sigma Green Belt training,” says Kendall.  “The principles, practices, and techniques of Six Sigma will guide our employees on methodologies that will improve on time delivery, reduce defects, and ultimately increase customer satisfaction.  These efforts will help Mack strengthen our business and enhance our competitive position in the global electronics manufacturing industry.”
